Default 5.3L swap dies at intersections when warm

Put a 5.3L/4L60e in my 64 Chevelle. This problem keeps coming and going. It always runs great on cold start but after it warms up it will die if I come to a sudden stop. I can keep it running if I stop slowly and keep foot on gas and brake at the same time to keep the revs above about 600 rpm. Also it will start right back up after it dies but still has trouble maintaining idle. I am running a external pump with corvette FPR. When I hook up the laptop everything I can trend is looking normal. I have verified fuel pressure at rail and it is steady at about 53 PSI.

Is this the kind of thing that a dyno tune will fix? Anyone know of a tuner in the Russellville, AR area?

Has the PCM been setup for the engine swap? What tuning software do you have? It can probably be fixed through email or mail order.

I agree. That can be fixed with a tune.

Or the idle cracker is not open enough. What are your Iac valve counts at idle?

I just have a simple software package and am not sure if I can trend that data. I can do a throttle position, but cannot remember what the scale is on that trend and do not have the laptop with me right now.

Try opening the throttle stop a little and unplug the throttle position sensor. Start the car, run it for a minute or so, turn it off, plug it back in, take a cruise and see if it improves.

Drive by wire. I think what you are referring to is not applicable.

My DBW throttle body has only one wiring plug on the side which has several wires in it. I do not have a seperate TPS sensor like a drive by cable system.

Thanks for the mail order tune. Drove it a couple of times today and it does not stall. Idle quality is good. I really appreciate you responding to my thread and fixing this issue for me. It was the last real "problem" with this drivetrain swap. I plan to do another swap in a year or two and will definitely send you that PCM as well.
