Battery not charging after harness hookup

Battery not charging after harness hookup I've been having random problems with my 2000 trans am, and had it narrowed down to the wiring harness. After redoing the harness and plugging it back up I had a 'check gauges' light for low voltage. It seems to stay right on or below the quarter mark on the gauge around 10 v.
The battery is brand new and I've NEVER had problems before. I checked and rechecked my cables and everything looks good, I cannot find a problem.
It can't be that my alternator went out coincidently while I had the car down for two days?
Any ideas that I could double check would be great guys..
