Just helped a buddy put a 4.8 in a cj7 and I did the harness to make it standalone . He had the tuner remove vats and the maf because he didn't have room for it and wanted to run sd. We did the first startup today and it runs for about 5-10 seconds and shuts down. When it does run its crazy rich dumping fuel .I noticed in scanning the pcm that the ect and the iat both read -38 degrees. I tried a new ect sensor with no results. And ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Add an inlet air temp sensor and it will be fine. Autozone $15.

Your IAT was in the maf so since you removed the maf you have no IAT. When the IAT is disconnected it reads -38 degrees. The fueling is going by that temp.
