the only differences come in throttle response..
because of how they work...
MAF typically will be a smoother more linear throttle response feel...it always feels a little sluggish compared to SD.
SD will typically be faster and more crisp, but is not as forgiving as a MAF and can feel jumpy/twitchy if not tuned correctly

not irrelevant.....
many factors in determining when MAF is used or not...
and in newer PCM's its used as 100% MAF with a virtual VE as a backup(which some can be changed to a real VE with a custom OS)
yes... during high throttle position changes it goes to SD, but you can change factors to make it more MAF dependent or less MAF dependent as you see fit based on vehicle mods.
