the block doesnt really matter as you can put either reluctor on the crank.

it really comes down to what you want to buy..
if you are adding an automatic transmission, you have to know which one to make that decision as electronic control is dependent on the ECU, which means the reluctor has to match the ecu/trans combo

as far as benefits....
theres really no difference when it comes to making power and having good drivability.
but people seem to notice a faster start with the 58x wheel with the 4x cam sensor means it can find where it is in the combustion cycle sooner.

all of the other stuff you need to consider is going to haveto be based on your dash...
a lot of people have a lot of issues with trying to make a dash work with a different ECU...
most of them are a Data stream only compatible with the dashes in the car/make/model
they came in originally
if going with aftermarket gauges...it gets easier as most gauges either come with sensors to make them work. and there some of the gauges out there can use OBD2 data to show you readings

all of the ECMs are small ish in physical size
honestly...that is a bad reason to pick any particular ECU.

ok great info. so either a 411 or a e40 ecu can covert to speed density.
one reason i was looking at the ls2 set up which one that is what my block is and the compact size of the ecu for the swap

More teeth=higher resolution signal from the sensors. Allows the ECU to better control fuel and spark to the engine.
