I've read that you can use a tablet with this but I'm not understanding how, how does the tablet hook to adapter that requires a Bluetooth?

You can use a tablet, but it will probably be a little slower. They sell ELM 327 bluetooth. Just enable the bluetooth in the tablet, and configure.

Ok so I purchased a ELM 327, I have a Windows phone. I turned my Bluetooth on found the divorce and installed the code. It showed connected but then after a couple seconds it's off again. I can't get it to stay on? What's the deal?
