Default Tachometer problems ?

So I need some help with my tachometer getting stuck at WOT. Everything works fine all the way to 6k rpm if I just roll into it slowly. When I go WOT it stops around 3,800-4,200 rpm's and just stays there until I shift gear or get out of the throttle. If I push it to the rev limiter it will finally jump to the 6,000-6,500 for a split second. I also have a aeroforce interceptor OBD2 scan gauge and on the rpm setting it is also holding at the same time the OEM cluster hangs up.

Thoughts, Ideas ??? Cam sensor ? Car is a 2000 z28, 6 speed trans, with a old comp cam in it, 34,xxx miles on the clock, cam sensor is the original.
