Default timing question

Ok, so like an idiot I got into a hurry changing my timing chain to a double roller and by mistake set the crank key to -8 degrees on the timing but had the cam gear degreed correctly. I took it to get tuned last weekend and my tuner mentioned numerous times the car wanted way more air and fuel than it needed. And mentioned it kept wanting 8 degrees more timing and he could never really dial it in correctly. Well after an hour or so of messing with it he told me I needed to check the timing on the cam gear because I was missing at least 180hp being I have a 408 and still made 330hp as it was at the time. After I tore into it I found that I set it up wrong. Could this be all that is contributing to my power loss or should I check else ware? I did a compression test just to be safe and all eight cylinders came out perfect. I just want to make sure I dont need to look else ware before it goes back to him next weekend.
