Backfiring intermitantly on cranking/ cam sensor problems
ALright, ive had this issue for about 8 months now. I first built my lq9 416 after my gto sat for about 9 months with a bad motor. Get my engine finished, installed and try to start it. Nothing, car cranks but no fire. Checke d a million different things and finally I ran a hot wire from the battery to the cranks sensor power wire and the car fired right up and never had that problem since?
First of what, what caused this? SOme kind of resister in the pcm drain dead or something?
Now, ever since the first fire the car farst and belches out the exhaust 50% of the time im trying to start it, cycle key off then back on and it fires right up. SO cam sensor issue. Replaced the cam sensor, still does it. Checked the wiring/connector for damage, all is well. Car has a p0342 code.
Is it possible I need to "jump start" that sensor power wire aswell?
Has anyone ever seen this or heard of it before?
