Default coil life?

don't know if this the right spot . diagnostics have 100k on stock coils do they get weak? I'm am electrician and asked my bro's and they say they don't wear out like a transformer. either they work or they don't . alas they don't have automotive backgrounds. wonder if coils are any different because of DC voltage. please elaborate, anyone use the new accel coils? how can voltage add hp? that's just ignition right? the timing event is what adds hp correct? I also have a set of msd plug wires that have 50k on them time to change? breakdown of conductor? sorry on an ls6/02z. I'm thinking I need to freshen up the spark. got 30k on new motor since tune should I get the tune checked since the new motor is loosened up so to speak? any help from you tuning guru's sure would help tunes are a big weak point for me. the oldman...

2 days,60 looks, no response, wrong section?? any ideas? coils are a part of tuning right? ignition event. the oldman.....

Since the ls1 came out.....only twice did I think there was a coil issue.....out of hundreds of cars, and both times......I was wrong. Ive never seen a bad ls coil. Ive never seen a hp increase by changing (done it several times) . Pulled old coils off the shelt several times and made 600+ rwhp on boosted engines.

If there is a spark issue....its probably plugs /wires... I did change plugs on a procharged 540 recently......on the dyno......It had no audible miss, ran clean, but the power was low......changed to new plugs (the cheapest plug I could find) with the car strapped down on the dyno......Still warm putting the new plugs in.....made a pull.....up 150 rwhp.......

thanks 1320, I thought so about the coils. accel advertises 10 or 15 hp gain. i'll change plugs and wires this winter. what wires do you guys suggest? got msd now I know I need low resistance. used the denso's the manual says gapped at I think 60k. gotta check service manual. what about checking the tune after the motor break in? moot point or what? no concern? thanks the oldman.....
