Ok guys I am stuck on my 98 z28 project. I bought a complete roller minus trans engine and harness. I am looking to install a 5.3 with future plans of a turbo. I have been reading and seen that the 98 engine harness and 99+ harnesses are different. Would I be able to plug and play a 99+ harness and ecm into my car?

No...some things need to be re-pinned to work with your 98 pcm. Or just upgrade to an 0411 pcm also. Then I think a couple sensor plugs (prongs) are different like the coolant temp sensor.....so you just buy a 99+ coolant temp sensor.

Im doing the 0411 PCM + new harness swap soon. About $900.00

Currenty I do not have any engine harness or pcm.. I have a 5.3 with fbody intake and accessories and a 98 rolling body...should still buy a 98 harness and re-pin it or buy a 99+? or last resort a custom harness.

 

If its just to run around N/A....get the 98 stuff.

But the tuners all say the 99+ PCM is much nicer for tuning.........so you'll be all set when you go turbo.

If you need to get a harness and PCM go with 99+ on both. The PCM will accept a 2001+ O.S. with the best tables for tuning. A 98 harness can be repined for a 99+ PCM if you are wiring savvy.
