Default BCM Help

I was in the process of stripping out un needed wiring for a carbed 383 swap but have decided to stick with my LS1 for a few months. I know the car will not start without the BCM on the stock computer. Realized my stupidity and hooked the battery back up to see if anything would turn on. Turned the key to ACC and the fuel pump cuts on but it still won't crank? I was under the assumption that without the BCM the pump shouldn't cut on.... So seeing as it is turning on with the car in ACC what would I need to do to get the car to turn over?

there is a yellow wire on one of the connectors to the bcm. cut that and ground it. vats would still need to be disabled in the pcm but that will allow the engine to crank.

Tried that, still no bueno. It's just strange that the pump cuts on... The BCM isn't hooked up.
