Idle issues
That being said we have a 6.0 out of an 03 Denali that we have tranplanted into an older truck. We have put a LS6 intake/injectors, LS1 cable operated throttle body and a cam. Cam specs are as follows:
216/220 560/560 lift @ .050 114-LSA
This truck is not yet road ready. The first time cranking it up after installing exhaust it idled great. I shut it off, went inside and now it wont idle at all.
I have looked at several how-tos and played with hp tuners quite a bit still wont idle. The truck will not be road ready for a while so getting a dyno tune doesnt make sense to me right now.
Anyone have any suggestions on what I could try? Right now id like to just be able to start it up to move it around the yard. I have a show next weekend id like to be able to take the truck to and drive it to my parking spot rather than push it into place like usual (under construction category). I will get a mail order tune if I have to to get this moving but i figured i would ask you experts first of what I can try.
Thanks in advance.
That is likely the problem. It started because the engine was cold and the stock fuel mixture was rich enough to start and idle the engine. Upon restart a few minutes later the stock mixture is too diluted by the cam's overlap and it won't idle any more.
If not already, everything needs to be retuned for the cam.
If the PCM was tuned for the cam:
Since this is a swapped engine, the first thing I would want to confirm is the fuel pressure.
If good, look for a major vacuum leak, pay attention to the brake booster.
Hook up the HPT scanner and look for any codes.
With the scanner, read the TPS voltage with the throttle closes; it needs to be between .25 and .50V; any more or less confuses the PCM.
