Tuning issue w/ Predator-HELP PLEASE???

Default Tuning issue w/ Predator-HELP PLEASE???

Ok so I loaded the tune and did some runs and get all sorts of spark ping at WOT on the stock predator tune. So I start messing around with the adj paramaters and add some WOT fuel (+2%) and take away some WOT timing (-4%) and still got some audiable pinging. I call predator and they say put timing at 0, add fuel til pining goes away as it is due to lean cuel curve. I get buddy to ride along and watch live data and have to do like 8 retunes and get it to where I am at +5% fuel (max) and -2.5% timing. Under WOT shifting into 4th I got like 1.5 to 1.8 KR the it settled alittle. Whats got me worried is it was like only 65 to 70 outside. Is this going to be a issue when it get around 90+ in the middle of the summer and I am doing a WOT run on the highway or something? Has anyone else had the problem of putting thier tune (predator) in and getting some WOT pinging and having to readjust. Also where has everyone else put thier fan setting at in order to get the fans to come on and stay on or go off at a good setting. Here are the specs on my car. Thanks for the help.

01 Firebird Formula M6
FTRA kit, Granatellie lid, Modified stock air box, K&N filter, Poly MAF ends, Descreened MAF, SLP bellows, Diablo Predator tuner, SLP Y Pipe, Flowmaster muffler.

Start with putting the stock MAF ends back on the car.

With my 160 thermostat Fan 1 on at 184 off at 175
Fan 2 on at 194 off at 185

I have pred also. You must be seeing smoke come out the pipes running that much fuel! To get mine to run right here in California with the 91 octane I had to retard the timing a couple of clicks (can't remember what that was, I think .23% or something) and I leaned it one click. It was way to advanced to start with. Played with mixture too. I tried plus 2.25% and had a cloud of grey smoke at WOT. And I could feel the power loss. Try putting the Pred tune back the way it came. Then make small adjustments. I would make a small adjustment and then drive it a week. After a couple of months I got it running better than ever! Once in a while I'll make a small tweek to see if I can get any more out of it. Good luck. When you start closing in on the right set up it's like yeah there it is! My 02 WS6 with an A4 fishtails down the street real nice.

I have talked to johan at diablo, his is going to make me a custom tune to help me out. The porblem was the poly ends on my MAF. I switched those out and went back with the stock predator tune and it runs great, only a little KR at WOT going into 4th gear (6spd). I will try your fans setting and see what it does for me. I am going to dyno it next week and see how it does compared to the one from a month ago, then I am going to have it dyno programmed by one of the predator dealers here in the city and see what that will do maybe.
