98 car with 2000 engine and harness We just swapped in a 2000 Ls1 engine and harness into a 98. Now none of the gauges work. What needs to be done to correct this. We plan to swap fuel tanks from the 2000 as well. Just what needs to be done to get the other gauges working. Thanks.
I'm assuming you are also using a 2000 PCM. You need some rewiring. Using a 2000 cluster will make most of the gauges work right away, but some lamps will not go off.
Print the wiring diagram for both clusters and fix the wiring to use the 98 cluster.
You also need a special tune in the 2000 PCM to make the fuel gauge work, the stock one will not work

98 car with 2000 engine and harness I did the exact same thing about 4 months ago. I swapped the dash/interior harness and used a gauge cluster out of a 02 trans am. If you have the 0411 PCM then all you would need is the segment swap for the fuel gauge to work. If you have the 896 PCM just swap tanks and be done.

I'm using a 0411 ECM and 2000 engine harness. We also swapped in the 2000 gauge cluster and the only thing that happened was a few lights flashed erratically. The bcm and steering column is also from the 2000. The only thing left that's 1998 is the dash harness.
