Default Help tune problem

how do i reset back to custom tune after unhooking battery 1998 LS1. Replaced O2 sensor, unhooked battery. Was told car went into trip mode when sensor light came on. Sensor replaced.....battery hooked up. Car has noticeably lost power. feels like custom tune went bye-bye. I have been told it shouldn't have. But as all you know...we can tell when loss of hp is present. As you guys know 1998 LS1 needs to be tuned on laptop and is expensive. What is proper way to reset after replacing sensor back to custom tune? And side note....had clutch replaced couple weeks ago, and he unhooked O2 sensors but not battery

Thanks a lot for any help

If you lost your tune from disconnecting the battery you have bigger problems than a O2 sensor.

Check for codes and scan data stream to verify sanity of sensors. The PCM will not set codes for sensor readings that are within the realm of normal. A temp sensor that reads 0° at 180° will not set a code, a MAP reading that shows atomspheric pressure with the motor running will not set a code. Etc.

You don't lose a tune disconnecting the battery. One way to reset after changing a sensor is to disconnect the battery.

Are you referring to ECU temps? If so Being a 1998 how can check that? and if it is going bad I've heard I can upgrade to 1999 so I can use self tuners. Is that correct?

Thanks again

Dont know where to turn. Probably going to give Tim a call and have him put it on dyno and retune if it needs it. F**king aggravating

There's a very high chance he still has your tune saved. Maybe he can reload it for you or verify it for free?
