Default CAL Code / Serial Number for Lost or Stolen ECU

So lets say for lack of a better explanation the ECU on my 2005 Corvette was stolen; how would I be able to find the correct ECU with the correct Cal Code, when I no longer have access to the serial number? This is an issue I am facing, as the company I decided to order a new ECU from cannot guarantee that what they supply me with will function properly unless I can provide them with the serial number on the original which I no longer have access to. E40's are a pain from what I am hearing. I tried calling GM's customer service hotline today figuring they would be able to tell me based on VIN; they have no clue....

https://tis2web.service.gm.com/tis2web

Put your vin # in there under the cal id box. Next webpage click on the powertrain control module, then operating system. I may be wrong in the order for those but none the less it will tell you the latest and greatest operating system out for your car. Now as long as you get a e40 ecm with that operating system your good to go

I'm sorry, I am so lost using TIS. I can't figure out which number is the actual part number and which is the correct service number. Can you elaborate?
