Could i reprogram to a lower year?

Ok I work for gm. So programming the ecm is not a problem with stock tunes. I have a buddy's 2010 chevy 1500 has 5.3l we just removed his Afm and Vvt. And swapped to a xr265hr cam. Ls7 springs and lifters. Front cover. The usaual swap.. He only has a "intune" tuner from diablo.. So he only has to option to turn off DoD/Afm. Not the Vvt. Could I therorictly program his ecm to say a 2008 before Vvt. keeping his vin. And then use his tun er to take away DoD/Afm. Other wise what are my options to remove vvt from the ecm so he won't have p0010 and what not codes. Thanks.

Flashing E38 ECMs with different year calibrations than they are originally flashed with has been known to brick them. You should just buy HP Tuners and edit the calibration in the ECM.

I flash 5-10 ecms a day. Never bricked one unless it's from pre 2000's. Just wondering if doing so would delete the Vvt before I waste. An hour. Lol.

Typically E38 stuff after 2009 is not compatible with E38 stuff before 2009...

will it hurt to run truck with p0010 it says all it does it park the vvt actuactor.. which is no longer there.. will it affect anything else.. performace wise?
