Custom tuning not readily available Hey folks, new member here, hello all!
I am planning a simple, for the time being, 5.3 to 6.0 swap. Not planning on much to start, just a mild cam upgrade and possible throttle body/induction upgrade. What my question is: custom tuning isn't readily available around here. We have 1 place with a dyno and I wasn't really wanting to spend that kind of coin right out of the gate. I do have a guy, that our shop uses for flash and new module replacement, that will do a stock 6.0 program on my pcm, but he won't do a custom tune. This is my daily driver, so I don't think a mail order tune is right for me because I would like to keep my VATS, and I don't believe I could do that with a core exchange style tune? Would I be able to unlock some potential above stock with a chip or handheld such as a Bullydog?
I have future plans for a possible turbo set up, so I don't want to get heavy into the dollars right out of the gate. Would just like to enjoy some benefit of the swap for the time being.

You're going to need a custom tune for the 6.0 swap, no handheld is going to be able to change the correct parameters for the 6.0 swap. Where are you located at? If your close to TX you could mail your pcm to us for a mail order tune while your doing the swap and possibly have the pcm back when your done.

I can have the stock 6.0 programming done no problem $75 from our local guy, he just won't do additional performance enhancement tuning. Was wanting to know what a handheld will do with the stock 6.0 program installed? I will have the engine swapped out in a days time, so mailing out the pcm is really out of the question.
Custom tuning not readily available Next day air it out and next day it back. Or get a another PCM and send that one. I think a mail order tune is just right for you. Get you close and when you do your turbo later it will have to go to a dyno or someone with a wide band. You said mild cam if you don't have the cam now get a PCM when you are gathering parts and have it tuned and flashed to your vin and you will alway have your stock PCM to fall back on
