Greetings everyone, I am gearing up for a turbo LSX swap and have a couple of questions regarding my PCM and some wiring. I am using a Haltech PS2000 (non GM plug and play) and chase bays wiring harness I acquired from another build gone bust. I've worked out most of the flying leads on the harness via continuity but I'm stumped with the 3 wire ECT sensor. The bottom wire that people usually run to a gauge runs to a relay which has me stumped. I'm probably overthinking this but I thought the ECT sends its readings to the PCM which in turn sends a signal to energize a relay/ kick the fans on, correct? If my thinking is right, then why is this wire running directly from the ECT to a relay? I can take pictures of my harness if this will help.
My other question is that the Haltech requires an external ignition amplifier to fire the coils off. The MSD 6LS looks like what I need but I'm having trouble figuring that out as well. They say an additional harness is needed (PN/8886) to use it with an EFI setup. I'm trying to figure out why the MSD box needs to know what the cam/crank positioning sensor are saying. Won't the haltech be making all the necessary adjustments and sending the signals to the MSD in order to be "stepped up" and sent to the coils? The more I try to figure this out the deeper I get.
