Faster acting IAT sensor
- Has anyone tried a faster acting Intake air temperature (IAT) sensor?
- Does anyone know how long it takes for the stock sensor to react to temperature changes?
- At what IAT does the stock tune begin to pull timing?
- When the IAT temperature is up does the computer do anything else other than pull timing, such as fueling or other adjustments?
Depending on air temperature, my car runs about 2-3 tenths quicker in the quarter when pushed through the lanes instead of starting it. I think the IAT sensor gets hot and the computer pulls timing even after launch when the cylinders are seeing close to ambient temperatures. I also think it gets hotter than ambient temperature after burn out and during staging, even if pushed.
I don't want to trick the computer but I would like the sensor to read the true air temp faster on launch. Lots of GTO guys are using a faster reacting sensor from Omega. I didn't see much discussion of this when I searched this site.
