Question Need alot of help!!

I just got in to the Ls1 world of tuning and I can understand everything but PCM tuning!! Is Ls1 edit what they use to tune your pcm if you send it off to lets say Speed Inc. or Thunder Racing? How easy is it to tune on your own? For a novice like me would I benefit more from sending my PCM out every time I need too have it tuned or buying the program and doing it myself? As you can see I'm very confused, can someone clear this up for me Thanks.

I would wait until you have more mods, if you are going to put more on. Go to one of the sponsers and get the LS1 Edit tuning done on a dyno. It will not be cost effective if you send it off every so often to get it tuned. And the stock programming will go a long way. When you get to a point after modding, then take advantage of Edit. Just my opinion though. It is worth it to get, just not everytime you do something.

Well, you could get a laptop and tune your own or dyno tune at a sponser. I personally would take it to a shop that is experienced. I work on my own stuff, but tuning I would have done.
I don't think tuners, tune the PCM with Edit when you send it in. As far as I know, Edit requires the car running.
I think they just flash in settings depending on what your set-up is.

Edit doesn't require the car running...You flash the PCM with the key turned to ON. Not running...

You can slap a tune on a pcm as long as the pcm has power.

FYI, if sending the PCM out for a tune, ASK the vendor questions such as :
Do they LOCK the PCM or change the broadcast code of PCM so NO ONE else can later tune that PCM and your stuck only going back to them later on.

Do they just take your PCM and in the BLIND do a "canned" tune or do they have you use a PCM scanner and have it record a drive you do and they use that data to tune the PCM to YOUR car's makeup ?

What is the turn around time,
I never have a PCM more then a day, some have it weeks before you get it back.
