Car has a direct port but am not going to spray over 200. I need to know maf or speed density tune. And What Maf if I go that route?
Most will tell you to go SD. I run SD. MAF is more accurate at WOT. I can get the WB trace to match the commanded almost exactly with a MAF. With SD you'll get really close but never perfect. Usually waiver .1-.2 AFR from commanded. The more drastic the environmental swings the more beneficial a MAF becomes. Unless you have an aftermarket ECU that can do barometric reference then SD and Alpha-n can handle the environment better.
In the end, if you are road racing SD/alpha-n is the way to go. If you are drag racing and not boosted MAF is the way to go. A MAF doesn't react fast enough to really shine on the road course.
The 4" tube screened LS7 MAF sold by Texas Speed is one of the best options. You MUST run a screen on a 4" tube. If you don't you will be chasing tuning ghosts endlessly due to non-laminar flow. The lowest cell density is fine. This MAF/IAT combo can be used with an 24x (needs a harness) or 58x harness no problem. It's all in the tuning.
