I drive the truck all the time and actually had my first pseudo breakdown today when a silicone boot blew off the cold side while I was passing someone and scared the bejeezus out of me. A couple wrenches in the parking lot and I was good to go.
I haven't tuned on it in a while nor made any logs lately but it seems like I don't get any pinging anymore. I do believe I changed the base tune at some point since this but I don't remember for sure. It may also have been fuel related. I am running E85 year round. It's dirt cheap here. I converted my Chevy SS to E this summer as well.

Here is some light reading that will explain some of the stuff going on in the TCC and trans, It helped get rid of the lug I had when in 4th cruising on the street, Not saying its a bible, but pretty good info.
