I'm having a bit of trouble imagining a way to make this work right.

My set up is stock pcm, 80e shifted by the computer from D (3)and an eBoost 2 controller

the eboost has 2 inputs I can use to trigger a "set point" ie a target boost pressure.

so I'm thinking I want to use 3 groups.

No trigger = lowest boost/1st gear

1st trigger = second gear

2nd trigger = 3rd gear


If I'm reading the schematic right I can just piggyback pin A&B on the trans connector and pull my triggers direct from the a & b solenoids (using a diode protected relay of course)

question 1 it looks like the solenoids are hot and triggered with a ground?

question 2 is that signal continuous or only during a shift?




bonus question:

I use a "sloppy brake" which throws the B solenoid to ground forcing 3rd and 1st to engage at the same time. this allows me to footbrake up on the converter.

How can I save that feature?

I dont want to build max boost on the line and my eboost controller will see that b solenoid trigger and go to the second boost target

Yes the ecm triggers a ground for the solenoid and all sensors as it takes the load to not burn out the ecm. It also runs in a 0-5v reference. It holds the signal or the default is 2nd gear. What is the E-boost looking for triggers? 12v, 5v +,-?

might it be possible to have a second relay on my sloppy brake to isolate the circuit from the 3rd gear trigger using a normally open wired relay?

 

lol, you're going to force me into this aren't you.

The solenoids pass 12v through them to the PCM when their off, the PCM uses the 12v signal to verify they are working. It grounds them to turn them on. The ground is continuous when that solenoid is on.

4L80e solenoids work like this:
Solenoid A/B.

1st Gear, Solenoid A is on.
2nd Gear, no solenoids (this is why limp mode defaults to 2nd gear)
3rd Gear, Solenoid B is on.
4th Gear, Solenoids A and B are on.

Use the 2 inputs for the Eboost 2 for Solenoid A and B. Trigger 1 will be 1st gear, no trigger will be 2nd, Trigger 2 will be 3rd.

MEASURE the resistance between "E" AND "A", the coil resistance.

This report (post here) will state the current draw of the Solenoid.

nope. sold the eboost 2 and bought some stiffwall slicks.
