Default Maf suggestions

Ok, so been having horrible throttle response for months now. Have only thrown slow o2 codes replacing bosch o2s while under warranty. Finally decided to unplug maf forcing computer to go into speed density! Bingo, maf messed up with no maf code. Car is 98 m6 ta with 02-04 z06 cam, ls2 243s, fast 78 intake, full bolts and tune. Maf n tb are stock ported and de-screened.
Now that's outta the way, I have heard ppl swapping to z06/truck 85mm mafs with not needing re-tune and having horrible driveability issues. However, I have a handful of 85s laying around with harness and pigtails and could hardwire it to my harness. To drop the obvious maf code from being unplugged, what are the chances I'd be ok? Or just find cheap stock 78mm maf and port all over again?

Installing a larger maf without recalibrating the Maf tables will most likely cause driving issues. The difference between the 78mm and 85mm maf table is not huge, but it's enough to cause your Air/fuel to be off. Most likely lean. IMO, I would not run a larger maf without a tune.

Put one of your 85's in and get it tuned
