IAC or TPS issue?

Default IAC or TPS issue?

This is on a 2000 WS6 A4 ...I had my alternator replaced the other day, and when I picked the car up it was idling at 2k, in gear, and N as well. I drove it home a few miles away and it did get a little better but not much. I was told to do a reset on the iac and tps....I did that, and idle was still high, so I drove it a few miles and the idle issue was completely gone and back to normal..rolling at 20mph I could lift off the throttle and the idle would drop and could hear the cam hitting as usual....So, this morning I started the car, and idle was back at 2k....I drove it about 15 miles into work and it got a little better, but not back to normal like it was last night. I was told that if both battery connections are undone for a certain amount of time the ecm would lose its ram which stores idle trim, fuel trim etc..But I had had the battery either dead or out of another WS6 I had for days at a time and never had an issue...Is there a way to differentiate if this may be a IAC or TPS issue? The car has ran perfect until the Alt swap the other day, nothing up top was taken off, belt was put on from the bottom, all is tight with TB etc and I see now sensors loose etc...Car has egr deleted as well

Strange issue. Are you throwing any codes? Blow any fuses by chance?

No codes and all fuses are good. Drove it to lunch yesterday and upon start, idle was almost 2k again....drove a few blocks and idle went back to normal. Ate lunch, got in car and idle is up again.....drove a couple miles this time, and went back to normal. After work, idle back at 2k....drove the 15 miles home and idle was still high....was in stop and go traffic and was about 1500 rpm...it finally dropped turning into grocery store...got back in car, and repeat the above. Im going to pull the IAC and see if it maybe has any carbon build up on it and not going out or retracting like it should....Im stumped, and I don't know how to tell if its the IAC or TPS causing this. I wished I had a scanner to read live data but I don't.

My car did the same thing when I bought it. I cleaned the IAC and replaced the TPS. Haven't had a problem since.

If we don't get flooded this weekend, Im going to pull the IAC out and see if it moves at all when the key is turned....The TPS is pretty cheap to replace too, Driveworks brand is like 38 and AC Delco brand is almost 70...Would rather go with ACD since I haven't heard much on the other brand...IAC is listed at 140...Geesh

Replaced the IAC with a new ac delco, issue still there...Guess Im gonna have to get a local tuner to check it out
