Default Unorthodox knock sensing ?

Gotta question for the electrically literate on here.
im running a little different setup than most on tech and need someone with great general knowledge of voltage and interface between 2 completely different devices.
on my turbo LS3 build im using the fitech 1200 TB on a holley single plane intake for fueling. I am also using the MSD 6014 ignition box to control spark . Neath one of these devices offer knock detection, so im forced to stay VERY conservative on my AFR and spark advance. Ive been researching a knock detection device made by a company called phormula . This device just identifies knock and alerts you so you can use it as a tuning device and a visual/audable warning.
So, here is my question. The knock detector has an output for data logging, so it will send its knock signal to another device. The MSD 6014 has a timing retard function that is used to retard timing when the engine reaches a user commanded coolant temp. Wouldnt it be possible to tie the data output from the knock detector to the MSDs temp timing retard and adjust the threshhold for timing retard in the MSD box to work off the knock detectors data output ?

That sounds like a fun project!

Plex Knock Sensor Stand alone works very well.

no, 2 different signals

Ive heatd good stuff on the plex, but its too much for me. The Phormula ks4 is getting good reviews too. As is the G4 knock box. Im gonna get the basic knock link G4. Its just a knock "light" that is getting really strong reviews from people that actually tested it against headphone setups and live logs , one was heads up with the plex unit. The knock link saw the knock coming before the dyno tuner heard it with the headfones !
im gonna mount it front and center and ease onto my tune, reading plugs . It will just be an instant alert for that odd time i get bad gas or too hot. Im just gonna have to be the manual retard !

knock detection device should always be used tuning. however in the event one doesn't have such tooling a very crude approach can be used.

use conservative numbers you know from experience wont detonate. on the dyno have someone lean over the engine and rest their elbow on the inlet manifold with the same arms fingers in their ear. they will hear det clear as day during the ramp up and power run.

its crude but it works

Default Yellow = 5 volt+ TTL

Hi 72, as I SEE you have not responded to my tech about the ONE Piezo sensor Phormula KS4.

A quality Knock Box uses TWO sensors (Piezo) that allows for the sound of detonation to be heard instead of piston slap. (different timing of the waves)

The KS4 has an output Yellow Wire that can drive a 5 Volt Solid State relay, use that with a resistor in the circuit (parallel) to your MSD Temperature sensor that controls the Spark Instant.

Thanks Lance ! Im sorry, i didnt see your response elsewhere .
ive kinda moved away from the ks4 because it seems no one has one for sale " in country " right now. Everything looks like a month or more for shipping from over seas. If i run across one , i will take that knowledge and put it to good use !

The J&S safegaurd isnt much more money and seems much more sophisticated . Actually actively retards timing on individual cylinders. It retards the timing on the last cylinder that fired when it detects knock. OR you can batch retard if you choose. Comes head phone ready and give visual alerts when it removes timing .
