Silverado lq4 swap So im doing an lq4 mild cam swap on my 03 Silverado 1500 which originally had the 4.8l. is it possible to instead of getting a dyno tune, to upload a preloaded tune for an ss Silverado into my computer with a hand held tuner?
The SS had the lq9 with higher compression ratio, and the cam will require (probably) a lot of idle tuning. I'm sure such a shortcut would be drivable, but miserable to deal with. The fuel trims would take care of steady state fueling, but open loop startup and transitional fueling would be fucked. Also, the idle trims "might" have enough range to smooth the idle, but if you ever disconnected the battery they reset. In addition, there is no possible way you would achieve maximum horsepower with such an untuned combo, because WOT goes open loop. There are also transmission issues, but I think you get the point. You will need to tune it.

Mail order tune (only good for getting you running will need to be checked and logged in person)
Email tune (requires hp tuners or efi live and a wideband)
