DBW to DBC conversion Hi all,
I’m in the process of doing an lq4/4l80e swap in my 70 Chevelle. The lq4 I’m using is from a 2005 gmc savana 3500 and it is drive by wire, I’d like to switch it to drive by cable but I’m not sure if my harness will support it? It is the harness from the van. I want to swap for more throttle response but I have read that it may be possible to tune the DBW so that it has similar throttle response to cable

The DBW harness will lack the wiring that will be needed for the TPS and IAC on the DBC throttle body. You can certainly add the wiring to your harness if you wanted to. Also, you would need to make sure your PCM has the IAC driver or else a different PCM would be needed as well.
If you’re doing this conversion strictly for throttle response, then your last statement is correct in that you could tune throttle response to your liking if you keep the DBW system. This sounds like an easier option to me.

The throttle response with a DBW setup can be tuned to your individual preference much easier than a cable can. If throttle response is truly your only interest in a cable, then you have no problem at all.
