Need some input please
I have a 07 Silverado max and have a few questions! Now My truck has no performance mods nor am I gonna do any but I like this site and like getting input from guys on these forums as it seems you guys go much further in depth with your vehicles than the average guys just out to do general repairs ( no offense to the average joes as I am one lol)
anyway I’ve been having an intermittent issue with my 07 Silverado max with the 6.0 aluminum block and heads! The last few days when driving I get a service stabilitrak light that pops up and shifts hard from 1st to 2nd gear!!! the first day it stayed on for about 5 miles then went off on its own and the next day it stayed on For about 15 miles before turning off on its own!
I hooked up a scanner and it had no stored in the ecm! My main question is why when the ecm sees an issue does it shift hard??? I had a bad 02 sensor a while back and the second the check engine light would illuminate the truck would start to shift hard! I’ve seen many cars over the years with check engine lights, abs light all kinds of system malfunctions and never had them cause a hard shift unless of course it was somthing transmission related!
So what is it about this truck that whenever the computer sees something wrong it causes the trans to shift hard even if it was somthing as small as a Evap code or something stupid! If the check engine light is on or service stabilitrak light is on it causes a hard shift from 1st to 2nd gear but if you clear the code it shifts normal instantly! My truck is completely stock except I pulled the afm lifters, installed the non afm cam and had the ecm re flashed for non afm but even before I did this the truck would do the same thing so I know it has nothing to do with eliminating the Afm! I have read many people complaining about the same issues with thes model year gms 07-13 but no one has explained why it shifts hard with a non transmission related issue!
Just wondering if anyone can explain to me why this model gm does this when ecm has a fault code or sees something wrong I just don’t get what causes the hard shifts or why it does it! It just seems odd as I said befor I’ve seen tons of vehicles with check engine lights and it didn’t make the car/truck shift hard unless it was obviously something wrong with the trans!!
thanks for taking the time to read this and I appreciate any help on understanding what’s going on
