Exclamation SES Light question

Good Afternoon LS1 Tech tuners. I have a 2002 LS1 and computer from a TA. It has been swapped into a 1988 S10 Blazer. Since the install I get a random SES light for the knock sensor. What could possibly cause this false knock and how do I turn it off. I have HP Tuners. My husband has reset the code several times but is at a loss for making it stop. I will post the actual code later tonight when he resets it again, because it came on again on the way to work under minimal load at about 13-1400 RPMs and the AC on.

Thanks in advance

The knock sensor sensitivity can be tuned up or down. HP Tuners should be able to access that.

The code is 0x10: P0327 - Knock Sensor 1 Circuit Low (Bank1) (Pending, Current). My husband just cleared it on my computer and this is a copy/paste from the scanner. He said he would download the tune this weekend to see if he can decrease the sensitivity of the knock sensors. I won't be racing the car often and he can log when I do. Thanks for the advice.

Before you go and just de-sensitive the knock sensors it might not be a bad idea into looking at a possible issue with the knock sensor or the harness. The LS engines are notorious for the knock sensors intermittently failing or being overly sensitive.

Now given where the sensors are located its not something you just pop out and try another one in its place.....however you can de-pin the sub harness for them and swap the wires. If it's a matter of the tune being overly sensitive for some reason then the code would still reset for bank 1. However if the code resets for bank 2 ... you should be looking for a bad sensor or damaged sub-harness on the sensors although it is possible the knock sensor is picking up noise in the engine, it may not necessarily be spark knock that's being detected, valve train noise under load in the mid up upper RPM range can also create false knock readings and still have a quite valve train to the ear.

Just wanted to throw out some other idea's that might fix the real issue rather then just masking it by turning down the sensitivity.

This is Excessive on Hurcon1's account.
The harness is a new painless harness, both the sensors are new because the ones in the motor when it arrived were falling apart and were unusable. Thanks for the inputs. I will look at the tune...from driving her car around, it is very random when the light comes on. It never happens while I'm logging a drive. I will consider your suggestion Pete. I am working so much lately, getting my hands dirty under the hood is difficult these days.

I appreciate the comments though. Wish me luck as I Sherlock Holmes this thing.
