Default Knock sensors

Alright guys, so here's the backstory; when I fired my engine swap up for the first time a couple months ago I got a code that there was a problem with my rear knock sensor (I don't remember what it said exactly) but I didn't want to tear into it again to see what the issue was, so I figured I'd just disable the code for the one knock sensor that was giving me issues and be done with it. I haven't noticed any knock retard come up while I was tuning, so that got me wondering, does the knock retard still function if only one knock sensor is connected?

Hmm, something i might be able to help with. So if you have no sensors at all hooked up it will throw it into knock retard timing every single time it enters power enrichment. It's a fail safe feature maybe? I just finished mine and forgot to plug them in and that is what it was causing. I'm not sure if both sensors are wired to the same feed so that it just senses a ping from knock but doesn't know which sensor sent it or not. If they are wired like that, then missing one I would venture to guess would still work, maybe. If it knows there are two and which is which then I would put a high chance of it forcing knock retard upon entering PE.

I have a knock sensor harness i can check later to see how they are wired into the plug.

I'd appreciate it if you can take a look for me, as my engine in question is in an express van, I'd rather not pull the intake manifold again if I don't have to I believe it knows which sensor the input is coming from. There's an error code for each sensor. But my log file isn't showing any knock retard, so I'm a little stumped here. Would it possibly be found under another name?

I tried making a graph that told me exactly where it knocked because watching the knock retard meter isn't exactly precise. It just kind of turns on, and at that it starts taking timing away before the actual knock retard gauge glows red it indicate a problem. But my problem was the sensors not being hooked up at all and it threw no DTC at me. I of course could never get the graph to work because I was obviously never registering a real knock.

But I took the loom off the harness and it is a single wire running to each sensor. So the computer knows which is which. The plug for the knock sensors to the main harness is actually on top of the manifold under the engine vanity cover. it should have a metal clip on the pig tale that holds it in place. It was the only pigtail that had that i think.
