tuning an L83 I am in process of installing an L83 and a 6L80 into my '63 Pontiac convertible. Once I finally get it running can someone recommend a shop to fine tune the ecm for the car. I have read good things about Pat G. but as he is in Texas and I am on the left coast it would be a little difficult to pop into his shop for fine tuning tweaks. Or is he good enough that he can do a satisfactory mail order tune? As this is a daily driver my objective is fuel economy, the 389 has been sucking premium fuel at 11-12 MPG and premium out here is flirting with $4.50, at least where I am. My brain is still programmed for gen 1 so I am completely out of my wheel house with this gen 5 and what I read they can be a little tricky to tune.

Pat G is a good friend of ours, he doent do mail order tunes. On your setup tuning through email (would require hp tuners and laptop) or in person would be better since the trans computer is inside the transmission pan so its not practical to remove it for a mail order tune. We sell hp tuners and tuning through email, Pat G offers the same services also.

There are vendors that do mail order engine & trans tunes using HP Tuners & AutoCal (EFILive). No need to send in ecm/pcm/tcm.
Send your original tune file and a log file using under the parameters the vendor supplies along with your current mods/setup and they'll return an updated tune file to you.
2017+ GenV trans are locked down such that they have to be sent to HP Tuners to be unlocked. At least as far as Corvettes are concerned. Assuming your drivetrain was sourced from a truck, if you're < 2017 then you should be able to update the trans tune in conjunction with the ecm with a flash write of the tunes.
