Lt1 to ls swap

Default Lt1 to ls swap

I came from a 94 lt1 and I did a ls swap in it , I brough a rebuilt lq4 with ls6 intake, cam ,headers., and stall for $1200 .. I changed all the dash harness and body harness, I kept my fuel tank and just ran braided fuel lines with a corvette fuel filter regulator and ls1 fuel rail.. the harness came from 98 drop top trans am,, now I got it up and running and i have a sct x4 tuner when I plug it up to tune it says vin not supported?

The vin number that is showing is from the 98 trans am so I guess I need to get it reprogrammed for the lq4? I really want to tune my trans am and it’s getting aggravating

Why does the VIN matter to you? Are you in a strict emissions control state that requires the VIN to match the body of the vehicle? There is a program called "HP Tuners" that can program your PCM to the correct VIN - at least I think it can do it. Around here, that change using somebody skilled with HP Tuners would cost about $150.

Is anything else wrong with the engine and transmission in your vehicle? For me, I'd ignore the VIN mismatch unless an emissions control inspector required a match.

No the vin doesn’t matter, I was just trying to give as much info as possible...I never got a chance to drive it yet because im still getting the transmission right, I had a truck transmission and I changed the tail shaft to a f body one and changed the lever on it to a f body one , the transmission was for a v6 truck I changed the bell housing and used the converter that came with it.. this is only a temporary thing until I get another transmission but the transmission works

I guess I’ll look into getting the vin number matched to the pcm and I’ll keep you updated

You will need real tuning software for what you are doing. A handheld pre-canned programmer just will probably not work. Before any SCT reps come in here saying I am wrong and they can do it, I know they can. They just usually don't choose to. HPT or EFIlive can both do what you need. There is also a thread in this forum where people are discussing an open source freeware way of doing it, although it requires a bit of programming knowledge and a lot of risk taking ability. If all of this seems like too much, put a carb on it.
