Spark Torque Management? Can't get rid of it
DoD Disabled...
No matter what RPM, what MPH, what gear, what-EVER...I get almost constant TORQUE MANAGEMENT SPARK RETARD.
On the LOG, it says, "SPARK TORQUE MANAGEMENT TYPE.........TRANS, when it is removing anywhere from 3* to near 20* of timing. I THOUGHT I had every single ENGINE & TRANSMISSION spark related torque management parameter turned OFF, but evidently not.
I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to ELIMINATE THIS...It should not be subtracting timing idling or drifting at 5mph...Truck has tank of 93 octane unleaded, does NOT burn oil, does not have any blowby, does not TAP, does not have an exhaust pipe rattling, and does not get any actual KNOCK RETARD, just this Torque Management BS, which sucks the life out of this thing, power-wise...
I attached latest log and reflash below.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
MPVI 1 Pro is what I have.
I had to update software to be able to open that file...Reflashed that tune to the truck. Then tried to "Write Config" to the interface so I could log on drive to work tomorrow morning
Now it's not seeing my interface. Tried resyncing interface, restarting laptop, reconnecting all wires, online, offline, and doing a headstand...nothing...
I'll have to see if I can figure this out tomorrow...

I'll post back as soon as I know something more definitive. Thanks
THIS MORNING...
The laptop has no problem whatsoever connecting to the interface ONLY, via the USB port, and original HPTuner supplied cable. Also no issue connecting laptop to interface only, using an aftermarket, much longer USB cable. It is able to "GET INFO" from checking the interface (although it's empty of logs, it is connecting and checking), so maybe it was just a fluke?
It's pouring down rain, with remnants of the latest hurricane, so if I catch a spot where it's light rain, I'm going out to see if I can do the WRITE CONFIG and actually log.
Russ K,
Truck actually felt great on drive into work this morning, with your "Tune 5".
I did a COMPARE FILE from my tune above, to yours, and only see what looks like all of the engine related torque management returned back to stock or near stock. Which puzzles me. I guess I am not comprehending why that would help?
I had pretty much everything maxed out, in hopes of it simply not ever seeing the need to limit spark, at least until I got done playing with the MAF and CRUISE TIMING.
Hopefully, I can get an actual log later and see what's happening.
Literally did not do anything differently than last night.
Same laptop (although fully charged, so no fear of it dying)
Same OBD cable
Same interface
Same everything...
Connected to truck, did a Write Config, quick test log, no problem...
WEIRD stuff...
NOW, I can try logging after work, and see if the Russ K adjustments helped.

I didn't look since I'm at work, but assume you have all the tq mgmt % tables zero'd out. Did you also raise the spark - minimum tq mgmt table? Believe stock its set to -20* I usually bump it up to 6-10* depending. Even with tqmgmt off I've seen it pull big timing trying to shift.

I've had my HPTuners since it was the serial version 1.xx.
I "HAD" the 4.4.4 version, which a lot of people bitch about, but personally I never had a problem with it. Last BETA version I tried, which was about the time of 4.4.4 release, about 75% of the time, I could NOT flash on High Speed, so a between runs reflash took 2-3 minutes, or more, instead of 22 seconds with the "normal" version...Of course, that issue was always blamed on a "problem with the car/wiring", yet problem magically disappeared when the BETA was deleted off my laptop.
My thoughts about going to the Holley Terminator X Max bandwagon, on my Trans Am, are gaining strength.
The Spark Torque Management was indeed ramped up quickly to -20* when I first got this truck, and I had it at +5* or 10*, but now it's at +20*, while I am trying to narrow down WTF is going on, lol.
Tons of TORQUE MANAGEMENT RETARD still...Can't figure out WHY??
Can I just make it an artificially HIGH number, like 35*, so it should, hopefully, at least maintain the actual commanded timing?
I know it's a bit lean, but I literally drove it home like a little old lady
That has DoD Enabled, and Flex Fuel Disabled
Obviously didn't help, and even shows AC Torque Spark reduction with it like that.
Just for the heck of it, I am going to set the Torque Management Minimum Spark to 25*, which "SHOULD" still allow it to retard for any other reason, but should keep it at 25* minimum, whenever this stupid Torque Management Retard kicks in...
Attached the log from this morning....
something is fucky, but im not sure what lol.
youre histo is tagged spark retard but the perimeter youre logging is spark advance. looking at a few random spots in the log the only time the spark advance matches the spark table is when the additional advance comes from the trans spark advance

The latest log started at -35.7* retard at about 10 feet out of my parking spot, BUT...
The Torque Management Spark retard never came back...which is the 1st time it hasn't...
1st pic is 12 seconds into the log, the 2nd pic is data from after driving 12 Minutes...
Attached latest log too.
AFTER DRIVE:
If you can shed any light on exactly what is in need of fixing, please give me a nudge in that direction
