Default P01 tune into a P59 ecm?

I'm new to tuning, I'm using HP Tuners. I know the two ecm's can not be physically swapped, but, can I download a known good recalibrated tune from a 2000 P01 ecm into a "stock" 2006 P59 ecm?? I understand the p01 is DBC and the p59 is DBW.

I don't think that will work. I believe there will be a constraint check built into the writing software (HP Tuners / LS Droid / PCM Hammer) that will prevent it. I'm no code writer but the layout of the operating system in each PCM is likely too different for this to succeed.

And rather than guess here, I just tried to write a 512k byte P01 OS into a P59 1 megabyte PCM using PCM Hammer version 15 - it did not work. PCM Hammer reported - "File size 524,288 does not match Flash Chip size 1,048,576!". PCM Hammer promptly stopped the write process at that point. I happened to have my VX Nano hooked up to a bench-harnessed 1 MB P59 sitting on the kitchen table which made answering this question easy.

I'm not sure how LS Droid would react but I think I remember seeing a constraint check for this. And I don't own an MPVI device for HP Tuners. Somebody around here will chime in and tell us if it behaves differently but I will be shocked if it does.

Rick

Thanks Rick. I really appreciate you taking the time, and going the extra mile to help me confirm what I suspected.
