Questions regarding HPtuners So I'm finishing up my build (6.0l/cam/4l80e/*0411 pcm) in a 89 foxbody. I'm considering purchasing HPtuners; however, I have a few questions before I pull the trigger.
how would I go about connecting HPT to the PCM, as my vehicle isn't OBD2 thus it doesn't have the OBD2 port? I'm assuming my only option is a bench harness? And if that's the case how would I datalog?
I understand that I need two credits to utilize the system. Is it a one time purchase (credits wise) and I can make unlimited adjustments to the tune etc etc? Or does it require a purchase of credits every time you change the tune?

I'm not an HP Tuners owner but my understanding is that one credit licenses the PCM hardware device and the second credit licenses the operating system inside the PCM. Thusly, you will have a hundred bucks tied up with your PCM which is not bad if you think that will be the only PCM you will ever need to tune - then sell the HP Tuners MPV device to somebody else.
I've got a half a dozen or so PCM's here for my El Camino so I went another direction. Do a You Tube search (and here on the site) for "PCM Hammer", "Tuner Pro RT" and "LS Droid" - this is how I do it. It's not as slick as HP Tuners and you really should build a bench harness for it but its free.
