Default LS2 into a 2002 Camaro. ECM questions.

I'm getting a built LS2 put into my 2002 Z28. What do I need to do with the ECM? Will the stock one work? Do I need a new one? Obviously it will need to be tuned either way, I'm just asking what options I have.

Stock one will work as long as the LS2 has a 24x reluctor wheel.

Stock PCM won't work unless you use the Lingenfelter box to convert 58x to 24x. You will also need Cam sensor extension harness and knock sensor harness. (BPAutomotive) Your tuner will also need to change knock sensor type from variable to flat response. Not a big deal there.
My sons car is an 01 and uses and LS2 block. Only difference is the crank has a 24x reluctor. So I didn't need the box.

Flat response knock sensors don’t work with the P01/P59 ecu.
Yes, there is a setting for them, but they won’t read.
You can install LS1 style sensors on the side of the block, keeps the check engine light off, but again don’t read accurately.

Lingenfelter box required if the reluctor wasn’t changed to 24x is exactly correct

I have not had any luck getting readings from the LS1 knock sensors installed on the side of the block. I keep getting P0327 and P0332, but I just turned off the MIL.

There are some PCM pin changes required, according to the EFI Live folks:Gen III aka "resonant" knock sensors:
Sensor Bank #1 - J1,pin51
Sensor Bank #2 - J1,pin11

Gen IV aka "flat response" sensors:
Sensor Bank #1 GND - J1,pin49
Sensor Bank #1 Signal - J1,pin09
Sensor Bank #2 GND - J1,pin50
Sensor Bank #2 Signal - J1,pin10

I've read that you can also ground the flat response sensors to the block and they still work.

Do you have any other info about what other changes need to be made to the tune for the newer sensors to work?

My LS1 knock sensors mounted on the side of my ls3 block have worked just fine as they have shown readings.
