TCM to ECM communication question
TCM to ECM communication question I'm having trouble finding information on just what will or won't communicate. I have a friend interested in putting a 4l80 behind an L96. Not sure of the year motor. He actually has 2 projects both with L96. The 2nd is a 2019 and has the ECM and 6l90 trans that came with it. So the second I should be able to wean his factory harness to stand alone.
the first he is in the procurement stage.
from what I'm seeing on other gen 4 vehicles that I've read the files on, the ECM has its own OS and so does the transmission. In these cases they were 5.3 and 4l60.
Can any T42 be loaded with a 4l80 calibration and OS?
Does the 4l80 OS have to be the same as the original trans OS that was stock with the ECM?
In this case, probably a 6l90 was the stock trans with a T43 internal TCM.
