P0327 Knock sensors code - Sensor is new
As part of a refresh I planned to change the valley pan gasket to find the front knock sensor heavily corroded and sitting in water. Intact removal of the sensor proved futile as the connector crumbled. Back sensor was sitting in oil and was in surprisingly good shape, just a brittle connector. At that point I decided to just change both of the sensors at once. Went with NTK as they are a reputable brand, same for the camshaft position sensor and crankshaft position sensor(not yet installed as a replacement). I did not, against advice, swap the wiring harness as it appeared to be in serviceable condition. Could that be the cause of the code? I cleaned all of the connections and was careful to torque both sensors to 15 ft/lb. The torque spec was just beyond the range of my in/lb 1/4" wrench so I had to use my 3/8" wrench which starts at 10 ft/lb. Valley pan was torqued to spec prior to all of this and wiring harness was sealed with high-temp gasket maker as per GMs recommendations.
No knock codes have ever presented themselves until now.
So, I propose the current possibilities in decreasing likelihood:
Poor connection to the wiring harness, front connector was the one exposed to water
Over or under-torqued sensor
Faulty sensor
New camshaft position sensor does not like old crankshaft position sensor
