Default P0327 Knock sensors code - Sensor is new

2000 M6 C5 Corvette 120k

As part of a refresh I planned to change the valley pan gasket to find the front knock sensor heavily corroded and sitting in water. Intact removal of the sensor proved futile as the connector crumbled. Back sensor was sitting in oil and was in surprisingly good shape, just a brittle connector. At that point I decided to just change both of the sensors at once. Went with NTK as they are a reputable brand, same for the camshaft position sensor and crankshaft position sensor(not yet installed as a replacement). I did not, against advice, swap the wiring harness as it appeared to be in serviceable condition. Could that be the cause of the code? I cleaned all of the connections and was careful to torque both sensors to 15 ft/lb. The torque spec was just beyond the range of my in/lb 1/4" wrench so I had to use my 3/8" wrench which starts at 10 ft/lb. Valley pan was torqued to spec prior to all of this and wiring harness was sealed with high-temp gasket maker as per GMs recommendations.

No knock codes have ever presented themselves until now.

So, I propose the current possibilities in decreasing likelihood:

Poor connection to the wiring harness, front connector was the one exposed to water
Over or under-torqued sensor
Faulty sensor
New camshaft position sensor does not like old crankshaft position sensor

I just went through hell with my sliverado. Bottom line is go to dealership for knock sensor or GM parts direct. And Amazon for the doorman wiring harness. No other sensor will work other than OEM.

Can you elaborate on what "hell" means?

Off brand sensors failing, getting fake acdelco sensors on Amazon. After 3rd time pulling intake I went to dealership for parts. You have to test these knock sensors with multimeter before install .

Hmm, yeah amazon sent me a junk camshaft position sensor that was clearly used and definitely not AC Delco. Decided to go to Rock Auto for everything from there on. NTK is the same entity that produces NGK spark plugs. Considering their reputation I have confidence they have strong quality control. Pulling the intake is not a big deal, I have done it so many times now it has gotten fast. I'm going to replace the harness and I'll report back the results.

And even that doesn't ensure you'll get a good one. I had a pair of Ebay sensors fail before my 4.8 Jeep even made it out of the driveway. Resistance and AC voltage values were within GM spec, and STILL threw 0327/0332. New pair of Delphi's took care of it.

Knock sensors can be a real pain. I had one that would throw a code no matter what. So I bypassed it and wired 2 into the one knock sensor that didnt throw a code. Havent had a problem since.
