Cam position sensor for piggyback

I searched but couldn’t find anything about it. If using a piggyback system on an ls1, could I just add the newer timing chain cover and gear and just use the front for the new ecu and keep the old one for the stock ecu?

Yes you could do that as long as both are 1x
