Tech 2 thread I need to do some sps programming specifically reprogramming the SDM module with the correct vin. Can a Chinese tech2 clone do this for me or do I need the real deal. I tried with the vxdiag and tech2win but just had so many issues I had to give up.

after hours and hours troubleshooting the connection, software, and having my cars battery drain and having the laptop die and moving a desktop into the garage, and getting all the right accounts for sps functionality it didn’t even let me access any of the modules. I could do zero programming and ended up giving up. I’m sure someone could have figured it out but it was such a nightmare I never want to touch that thing again

What year vehicle? Be wary of the MDI clones on older, Class 2 bus based vehicles. The first one I bought would not comm with my 2002 Z28, or my LS swapped Jeep (2002 PCM).....but worked fine with my GF's 2009 Saturn Sky (GMLAN). Returned it for another one, and that one finally worked for the older cars.....but would NOT work on low speed modules in the Sky. And yes, I was able to program with it using SPS. I bought a Chinese Tech 2 finally, and that works without issue with all our cars.
