Default Best tuning software

What's the best tuning software out there right now? I've heard good things about LS1 edit and HP Tuners but not much else.

I don't want to just know about HP tuners. I want opinions of people who have used the different tuners out there.

I think the top 3 are HP Tuners, LS1 Edit, and EFIlive. There are a couple of hand held programmers that are decent also. Predator and Diablo I think.

I debated all 3 for a while. I finally decided on HP Tuners because you get scan software and edit software for $500. Plus it's locked to a model year, not a VIN.

There is another one on the way. Call it vaporware if you wish, but it should be here by the fall. It is also $100 cheaper than HPtuners. It also is superior to LS1EDIT. It is from the DHP folks that brought custom PCMs to the v-6 market.

If you have to have something now, get the HPtuners over EDIT. If you can wait, it might be worth it since there is more than 1 other alternative on the way at a cost advantage and supposedly equivalent to HPtuners in features and performance.

I used to be a GTP guy, so I read that forum on occassion.

Interesting.

The next few months should be really interesting as far as what comes available

for current production product, hptuners is who got my money. I'm looking forward to see the benefits of the new products

The useful info, regarding the PCM calibration, that gameover (HP Tuners) has provided to this section has been VERY helpful. HP Tuners has not been shy in support.
AND they are a Vendor-------------->>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

If I already have a tune from HP tuners and then bought my own software would it read the current settings or erase them and leave me to guess how it was tuned. I assume I would need to reset it to tune it but will I be able to see were all of the settings are at so I can put them back with my software?

If you buy HP Tuners you can read your existing configuration from your PCM and start with that as a baseline. Or you could find a stock tune for your car and compare the two to see what was changed in your tune that is in your PCM now. But HP Tuner's won't erase the tune if you just do a "Read" first and save the .bin file. It only overwrites your tune when you do a Flash with a new .bin file.

i bought tuners...i think ls1edit and hptuners have their pros and cons but in the end i thought hptuners seems to have a little better support and is much quicker to upload & download files with but ive heard edit has more parameters or things to change in it though i think hp tuners has enough to keep you busy for a while as it
