2002 Camaro V6 tune

2002 Camaro V6 tune Hello All
if I’m in the wrong place please direct me to where to post.
I bought my son a 2002 Camaro V6 auto (40,000) miles. We added a turbo muffler to it and that’s it. His CAT went out a couple weeks ago. We just cut it out and did the straight pipe to the muffler. ( it was $1,000 to replace here in Commifornia) he is know throwing a CEL. Instead of getting MIL eliminators I was thinking getting him a tune. Give him a bit more power and performance. Better MPG and make the car a bit more fun for him. What tuner should I get? Or is that a total waste of money. It’s a V6 automatic. Plan on doing a CAI soon as well. I believe California recently updated its OBD2 emissions testing so that newest software automatically fails "tuned" PCM/ECM for running a nonfactory calibration.
Hopefully it will be possible to locate an inexpensive functional replacement catalytic converter for the car and swap that in to repair.

Unless you have alresdy checked, many metropolitan areas of some states still have inspections even if the state itself does not. Just a heads up.

No inspections where his car will be registered. Where behind enemy lines are you? LA here.
