Default Maf and transmission issue

Yesterday I was driving and one rib on the serpentine belt came flying off and ended up grabbing the wiring pigtail for the mass airflow sensor and pulling it into the serpentine belt which ended up shredding the wiring and cutting it in half. When that happened my check engine light ended up coming on for the mass airflow sensor as well as other codes for the solenoids in the transmission. I have a 4L 60 E. Is it possible that the wiring from the mass airflow can mess up the sensors in the transmission or is it just coincidence that it happened at the same time?

I fixed the wiring and got the mass airflow sensor working again but now it seems like the transmission is stuck in third gear when putting it in drive or overdrive. If I manually shift it down into first it will go in the first gear but when I put it in drive it’s super sluggish. I’m not
really sure what to do next other than buy new solenoids. Does anybody have any recommendations or guidance as to what I should do before I start throwing parts at it

Coincidence. MAF and tranny have nothing to do with each other.

Okay.. 1st thing you need to do. Check that the trans is getting 12v's at the trans connector when the key is on. If no power, it will be in limp mode-3rd gear only. Post back and let us know if there is power at trans.

And Gatsma.. you are almost right.. the MAF is used to calculate line pressure inside the trans so the MAF and trans definitely work together. But no, the issue he had is not causing the limp mode situation. Typically, the power supply for the MAF is tied into the O2 sensor heater wiring.. maybe just a blown fuse, or fuses, here.

OK. I get what you said here. And you're right.
I meant to say that MAF circuitry and tranny circuitry don't cross paths. MAF relays info to the ECM, which processes the info and relays pertinent info to the tranny processor.
