Segment swaps
I am LS swapping a 2000 S10 2.2L Flex fuel truck to a 2004 Trailblazer 5.3L I bought a complete swap harness, P59 PCM & was sold a 2005 Silverado L33 tune from CPW (Current Performance Wiring). I have a battery light that is on constantly.. It charges OK, 14.5V 100A output when loaded.
I have been told that I need a S10 compatible Tune. They used an example of a tune that was used in friend of mine from Phoenix 94 S10 4.3L to a L33 swap. In this tune, they started with a 2003 S10 tune and segment swapped a L33 engine/transmission in. I am assuming that they mean the OS #.
HPtuners requires a similar OS to complete a segment swap.
In my search for a compatible tune/OS. I found similar OS #'s, but I ran across 1 that looks odd. It had a listing "12579405 -> 1283050" under the OS. All the other tune files OS's have a single set of digits listed under the hardware, VIN & ETC column. Then will have a separate listing/column for all the different "Operating system" "engine", "engine diagnostic", "transmission", transmission diagnostic", "fuel system", "system" & "speedometer".
Sorry I cannot just screen shot anything in HPtuners. I was hoping a senior tuner could look at this and tell if this has been segment swapped? Just trying to learn and any information is greatly appreciated.
The bottom line to their final reply was...
"All of this is still just for the battery light, correct?" and in a phone conversation. 'Some batt lights cannot be turned off and you just have to remove the bulb"
I believe I have the battery light taken care of with a different tune. What I have come to believe is that. The tune uses an OS (Operating System) that must have compatible class II serial data for the Body computer and things that it controls like the battery light. The S10 instrument cluster uses a solid state chip for the light that is supplied serial data to turn it on/off.
So here is the fix that was recommended from 2 separate people. Start with a S10 Compatible tune, segment swap the L33 engine into that. That is when I started my search for a S10 OS that was shared with a V8. They however couldn't answer my ? about the multiple OS #'s on the tune file I uploaded.
Were you able to look at the uploaded tune file?
