Scanner or knock off tech 2 advice Can anyone recommend an inexpensive scanner with the ability to do a crankshaft relearn on a 2010 Silverado 4.8?
Recently had to order a remanufactured computer for my sons truck. I have to get it security flashed at a locksmith (frustrates me I could not find a way to do myself) But I will still have to find a way to do a crankshaft relearn.
also been looking at a clone tech 2 nano on Amazon and trying to understand how they work. Would something like this and a laptop be able to do a relearn?
I do all my own work on my vehicles when I can and tend to keep them for a long time. My last Silverado had over 300,000 miles. I currently have a 2013 Silverado 5.3 and my son has a 2010 Silverado 4.8.

The Nano is a J2534 passthrough device, like a Mongoose or MDI. What would actually "talk" to the vehicle is a program called Tech2Win.....a Windows Tech2 emulator. What you get with the Nano is a Chinese cracked copy.....otherwise you have to pay for a legit copy on a subscription basis through ACDelco TDS. The Nano works.....I had one, but I bought it second hand and could not renew the license.....I now have a clone Tech 2 as well as a new J2534 device called OBDX Pro GT. Tech2Win does everything a Tech2 does (there are exceptions, but not many), and yes.....you can do a crankshaft relearn with it. It's a great tool, and I have 3 GM vehicles (including a 4.8 swapped Jeep) that I use it with.
