Oil temp sensor on an F-body
I'm adding an oil cooler, and using Improved Racing's EGM-112 integrated oil thermostat. There's a provision for an oil temp sensor. I know the C5 (which, for '01-03, also used the 0411) had an oil temp sensor, and that the temp was visible in the DIC.
I would like to be able to datalog the temp with HPTuners. I might also add a gauge at some point, but I'll cross that bridge later. I know I can use the extra input on the MPVI3, but I don't want an extra cable sticking out the front of the interface if I can avoid it.
In my searching I've found some reasons to think that the C5 may not send that data through the PCM; just straight to the cluster. Does anyone know for sure?
If it does go to the PCM:
Which pins?
Would I need to run a different OS for this to work? Presumably a C5 OS would do the trick; does that bring any additional complications? For example, would I be forced to switch to DBW?
If it goes straight to the cluster:
I know that the EGR circuits are unused in the '01+ cars, and as such that can be repurposed as another input. I'm planning on using that for my wideband O2 sensor. Are there any other unused circuits I could repurpose? Anything related to AIR injection, which I've completely removed? The car has a manual transmission, so maybe something related to an automatic? I don't know if there are inputs for line pressure or anything like that.
