I saw the new thread before anyone else and started to write "Assuming this is a 1970 Chevelle with a 396, it might be that the distributor points are bouncing". But then I noticed his name implies a '98 Camaro and as moderator, I shouldn't be a smart-***.

Year, model of car, mileage, engine with all known modifications, stock or custom tune.
When did problem start, was ANYTHING (even an oil change or new tank of gas) done just before the problem started.
Is there a check-engine-light? Have you scanned the car? Was anything reported?
All the above items are best listed when asking for help on ANY problem.
Now, specific to your problem, it could be ignition problem, so how old are your plugs, coils and wires? Or it could be a lean condition due to a clogged gas filter or something else. The experts here probably know every possibility.
If you are up for this, I'm sure you will get good replies and despite the humor of "Purple" I will delete this entire thread.
